The HR is a family of straight-4 automobile engines co-developed by Nissan and Renault. It is made by Aichi Machine Industry in Japan.

The HR16DE is a 1.6 L engine. It produces 110 hp (81 kw)

Bore : 78.0 mm (3.07 in) ; Stroke 83.6 mm (3.29 in) ; Capacity : 1598 cc

It is fitted to the following vehicles:

Nissan Micra K12 Sport SR & 160SR
Nissan Micra C+C
Nissan Note
Nissan Tiida (In China , Thailand and Global Oversea Market)
Nissan Qashqai (115 hp, 160 nm )
Nissan Latio (In Malaysia)
Nissan Grand Livina (In Malaysia)


The entry level gasoline engine will be the 1.6-litre Nissan HR16DE rated at 84kW (113hp), which is another recently introduced engine, currently available on the Nissan Micra, Tiida and Note.  Unlike the diesel engines, this is manufactured by Nissan's affiliate Aichi Kikai in Japan, at its Atsuta plant.

NISSAN TIIDA - 2010 (ENGNE HR16DET

All new Tiida (Codename X12C) firstly introduce Sedan before Hatchback version to expand width body by 1,740-1,760 mm. based on B-platform,Extreamly performance a new enginrange from HR16DET 180 HP 20-25 kg/m.

Sale target New Tiida Sedan  late 2010.



The Nissan is likely to use a HR16DET inline 4 cylinder turbo with VCR (Variable Compression Ratio Piston-Crank System) which will produce between 220 - 250ps, put out 30.0kg/m and mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. At 1250kg it should have quite pleasing performance.

A 220 - 250ps 1.6L turbo inline 4 cylinder engine gives Nissan’s new compact FR sports car a slight power edge over Toyota… let the battle begin!

1 - a spark plug, 2 - crackers, 3 - a valve spring plate, 4 - a valve spring, 5 - a valve spring nest, 6 - a valve epiploon, 7 - directing the valve (release), 8 - directing the valve (admission), 9 - a head of cylinders, 10 - a valve seat (release), 11 - the valve (release), 12 - a valve seat (admission), 13 - the valve (admission).
